I don’t have too many conversations with other artists where technology doesn’t eventually come up – we will most often talk about building websites or the software we use.
But it’s not like computers are tools that can simply be used without considering the whole system, so here are some links to free downloads that will help keep your computer system running smoothly or enhance security.

Antivira is one of the top-rated free anti-virus programs, and is fairly easy to work with.
Spybot Search & Destroy, as well as Ad-Aware by Lavasoft are both good for spyware sweeps. After years of using both I tend to prefer Spybot S&D a bit, just for simplicity and reliability.
Finally, the program that I find combines well with any other program. I often advise people that NOTHING will keep every single nasty file out of your computer. . .so an occasional sweep using Malwarebytes is good to ensure that anything ‘sneaking past’ other defenses gets cleaned up.
I update the program and scan my computer about once a month, as well as using this software to scan removable storage (like USB thumb drives that I use on multiple computers) just to make sure that I am not bringing home any surprises after working with others’ computers.
